Alderney Wildlife Trust Limited

Alderney Wildlife Trust (AWT) is the only wildlife trust in the Channel Islands and the only organisation on Alderney dedicated to protection of the natural environment.

The AWT is one of the 46 Wildlife Trusts working across the British Isles. Support from our members and volunteers allows us to manage over 130 hectares of terrestrial land for wildlife - quite considerable on an island of only 800 hectares. We also manage over 20km of footpath to ensure public access to the Island's countryside whilst minimising the impact on the wildlife that lives there. We work with the local community to engage them with their natural environment in order to protect Alderney's wildlife for the future. 

The over-arching aim is the conservation of Alderney's biodiversity, encouraging a sustainable Alderney where people and biodiversity co-exist and promoting conservation and Alderney's many terrestrial and marine habitats, place or scientific interest, its amenity value and natural beauty.

A variety of activities, event and programmes are delivered annually by our Outreach & Education team. From Wildlife Week, National Marine Week, and Alderney Week, to Bat & Hedgehog walks, Forest and Beach Schools and supporting our islands community to be more sustainably connected to nature.
