When asked multiple times after moving to Guernsey as to whether I would ever swim the channel, I said no - it was not a pretty swim and I was all about finding beautiful and interesting places to swim. It is however a challenge, a fairly epic one, the equivalent of running three marathons back to back. So when, after a really tough time in 2025, the chance came up to take on this challenge I took that prerogative.
It still will not be a pretty swim, it can range between 40-65km and will take me between 12-16hrs of swimming, probably in the dark for a portion of the time but I am up for it but it will be hard.
Whilst I am on for silly challenges I feel this one is sufficiently extreme to raise some money for a couple of really worthy Guernsey charities who have both supported friends of mine. The Priaulx Premature Baby Foundation and Les Bourgs Hospice, (funds will be divided between both charities) they are both charities that you hope you never have to use but they provide brilliant support for people both at the start and end of their lives. So if you feel like validating my craziness and suffering with a donation to these brilliant causes I would be extremely grateful.
